Socialisation refers to the process of learning and using one’s culture. It prepares a person to live within a human society. Primary socialisation is when a child learns attitude, values and appropriate actions as members of a particular culture. Secondary socialisation refers to the process of learning the appropriate behaviour as a member of a smaller group within the larger society. Adult socialisation is the process of learning the practices and expectations associated with a social role. Humans have a constant need to belong which is why we live together in a society rather than individually. As long at we are exposed to new people and cultures, socialisation can’t stop. Therefore generalising that it is a life long process.
