An hyperbole is "an overstatement or exaggeration" so option D) is correct. It is a literary device commonly used in literature.

Option A)is incorrect since the literary device that uses words that mimic sounds is the onomatopoeia.

Option B) is incorrect since the literary device that does not use "like" or "as" is the metaphor.

option C) is also incorrect since the literary device that uses "like" or "as" to compare things or ideas is a simile.

A Hyperbole is an exaggeration of something, it is the use of statements that are so exaggerated that are not supposed to be taken in its literal meaning.

Therefore the correct option is D) an overstatement or exaggeration.

The other options are not correct because the use of mimic sounds and the comparisons represent other literary devices.

Would you rather live in ignorance and be "happy" in this town or know the truth and live the real world? What would the ramific
VARVARA [1.3K]

Answer:

Im just gonna give a short paragraph you can go off of:

In this world there are many people who live in complete ignorance to the harsh truths of this world. They get to live happier, not knowing the real struggles people go through. While they get to spend their time and energy fighting for "their rights to not wear a mask" people are dying, staving, and fighting for their lives because of the extra stress we've been put under due to the pandemic. Though one might argue every single person is ignorant about some issues, the difference is some people actually want to change that. yes, being ignorant about the struggles black and brown people have to face makes ignoring the news a little easier. Not knowing about what lgbtq+ people have to go through makes going to church easier. But it only adds to these people suffering. Not doing anything, ignoring them, pretending its not happening, is just as bad as going out and being the reason its a problem.

aleksandrvk [35]

The thing which Louie's other cousin ultimately represent to Esperanza is the B. reality of how difficult it is for people to escape how they were raised.

What is Characterization?

This refers to the way in which a character's role is presented in a literary text.

Hence, we can see that from the given narration, after Louie's other cousin visits, she is happy to meet new family, and based on the fact that they are a Puerto Rican family, they are raised differently and this leads to a fight and a bruised lip where the police are invited.

This shows that the way Esperanza views Louie's other cousin's actions is that there is the reality of how difficult it is for people to escape how they were raised.
