The statement “All of the earth's life and weather exists within the stratosphere” is false. The answer is letter B. The answer is the troposphere. The first layer, troposphere, is where we are able to do most of our activities. This is where we can see the formation of clouds, the production of rain, hail, snow and other weather phenomenon. Also, this layer is where the greatest amount of air pressure because most of the molecules of air are in this area. Like us, air has also mass and the pressure is brought down by the earth’s gravity causing an increase in weight exerted on you as you descend lower into the atmosphere. So, as you enter into the other layers of atmosphere above the troposphere, the air pressure starts to decrease. Below the atmosphere is the hydrosphere. Answer:

This is where all liquid forms are located. And since the seawater has a greater mass than air, it has the greatest pressure.

A ball is tossed vertically upwards with a speed of 5.0 m s–1. After how many seconds will the ball return to its initial positi
mezya [45]

Answer:

1.02 seconds

Explanation:

Initial velocity = u = 5 m/s

t = Time taken

s = Displacement travelled = 0

a = Acceleration due to gravity = -9.81 m/s² (negative sign due to direction)

Equation of motion

s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2\\\Rightarrow 0=5t+\frac{1}{2}-9.81\times t^2\\\Rightarrow 0=5t-4.905t^2\\\Rightarrow 0=t(5-4.905t)\\\Rightarro 0=5-4.905t\\\Rightarrow t=\frac{-5}{-4.905}=1.02\ seconds

So, time taken to return to its initial position is 1.02 seconds

It takes Serina 0.68 hours to drive to school. Her route is 34 km long. What is Serina's average speed on her drive to school?
shusha [124]

Speed = distance / time

Speed = 34 km / 0.68 hrs

Speed = 50 km/hr

A slingshot fires a pebble from the top of a building at a speed of 14.7 m/s. The building is 36.0 m tall. Ignoring air resistan
monitta

Answer:

The final speed is 30.37 m/s for the three directions.

Explanation:

Given the initial speed, v₀ = 14.7 m/s and the height of the building as 36.0 m (neglecting air resistance and height of slingshot), we apply the principle of Conversation of Mechanical Energy:

E = Kinetic Energy (k.E) + Potential Energy (P.E)

K.E = 0.5mv²

P.E = mgh

∴ 0.5mv₀² + mgh₀ = 0.5mv₁² + mgh₁

Since the final height (h₁) is zero and m is a common term, then we can re-write the above equation as:

0.5v₀² + gh₀ = 0.5v₁² + 0

0.5v₁² - 0.5v₀² = gh₀

0.5(v₁² - v₀²) = gh₀

v₁² = v₀² + 2gh₀

Fitting in the given terms, we can calculate the final speed

v₁² = (14.7)² + (2)(9.81)(36.0)

 = 216.09 + 706.32 = 922.41

v₁ = √922.41 = 30.37 m/s.

The speed at which the pebble hits the ground remains the same because kinetic energy depends on the speed of the object and not the direction to which the object is thrown.

What are some possible sources of error when using the modified mercalli scale to locate the epicenter of an earthquake?
anygoal [31]

The Modified Mercalli scale is used measures the amount of damage done during an earthquake. This helps to locate the epicenter of the earthquake. It depicts the intensity of the earthquake based on the damage occurred due to the earthquake. The responses from many people who experienced the earthquake are collected by the scientists, assigned a value and plotted on a map

The plotted number can change with the reference place within the region of disturbance. It depends on the location of the observer with reference to the epicenter of the earthquake. The reporting depends on the witness. Some can exaggerate the extent of damage caused. All the above mentioned are possible sources of error when using the Modified Mercalli scale to locate the earthquake's epicenter.
