The just world hypothesis is the ideology common in the United States that people get the outcomes they deserve.

Further explanation:

The just world hypothesis refers to the hypothesis which states that an individual has a strong need or desire to believe that this world is predictable, orderly and it is a place where everybody gets what they deserve.

JUST WORLD HYPOTHESIS

The just world hypothesis is the tendency of an individual to believe that he gets what he deserves and this world is just. An individual wants to believe this world is just and fair, so he looks for ways to understand and explain. An individual rationalizes away injustice and often blame the person who is actually a victim in the situation.

The just-world hypothesis is the cognitive assumption or bias that an individual’s actions are intrinsically inclined to bring consequences which are morally fair and fit to that individual.

The just-world phenomenon helps in explaining that why an individual in the world blames victims for his/her misfortune even in those situations where other people have no control.
