3¹/₂ or 3.5 cookies

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

Given:

  • Mr. Chan made 252 cookies for the Annual Fifth Grade Class bake sale.
  • They sold \frac{3}{4} of them and \frac{3}{9} of the remaining cookies were given to P.T.A members.
  • Mr. Chan allowed the 12 student helper to divide the cookies that are left equally.

<u>Question:</u>

How many cookies will each student get?

<u>The Process:</u>

<u>Step-1</u>

Let \ us \ prepare \boxed{252 \div 4 = 63}

Then, let us create a suitable diagram as follows:

\boxed{63}\boxed{63}\boxed{63}\boxed{63} = 252 \ cookies}

So, 1 unit of diagram is equal to 63 cookies.

  • Mr. Chan sold \frac{3}{4} of them, that is \boxed{ \ 3 \ units \times 63 \ cookies = 189 \ cookies \ sold \ }
  • The remaining cookies are \boxed{ \ 252 - 189 = 63 \ cookies \ }, or 1 unit left of the diagram above.

<u>Step-2</u>

Let \ us \ prepare \boxed{63 \div 9 = 7}

Then, let us create a suitable diagram as follows:

\boxed{7}\boxed{7}\boxed{7}\boxed{7}\boxed{7}\boxed{7}\boxed{7}\boxed{7}\boxed{7} = 63 \ cookies}

So, 1 unit of diagram is equal to 7 cookies.

  • Next, \frac{3}{9} of the remaining cookies were given to P.T.A. members, that is \boxed{ \ 3 \ units \times 7 \ cookies = 21 \ cookies \ }.
  • The last number of cookies remaining was \boxed{ \ 6 \ units \times 7 \ cookies = 42 \ cookies \ } or \boxed{ \ 63 - 21 = 42 \ cookies \ }.

<u>Step-3</u>

Mr. Chan allowed the 12 student helper to divide the cookies that are left equally.

Let us calculate how many cookies will each student get.

\boxed{ \ 42 \ cookies \div 12 \ students \ }

\boxed{ \ = \frac{42}{12} \ }

The numerator and denominator are equally divided by 6.

\boxed{ \ = \frac{42 \div 6}{12 \div 6} \ }

\boxed{ \ = \frac{7}{2} \ }

\boxed{ \ = \frac{6}{2} + \frac{1}{2} \ }

\boxed{\boxed{ \ = 3\frac{1}{2} \ }}

Thus, each student will get 3\frac{1}{2} cookies.

Answer

Find out the  how many cookies will each student get.

To prove

As given

mr.chan made 252 cookies for the annual fifth grade class bake sale .

they sold \frac{3}{4} of them

Than

Number\ of\ cookies\ left = \frac{3\times 252}{4}

                                                = 189

Number of cookies left after sold = 252 - 189

                                                       = 63

\frac{3}{9} of the remaining cookies were given to P.T.A members .

Than

Number\ of\ cookies\ left\ when\ given\ to\ P.T.A\ members = \frac{3\times 63}{9}

                                                                                               = 21

Number of cookies left after giving to P.T.A members = 63 - 21

                                                                                          = 42

As given

mr.chan allowed the 12 student helper to divide the cookies that are left equally.

Each\ student\ get\ cookies =\frac{42}{12}

                                                     = 3.5

Therefore the 3.5 cookies each student gets.

Kyle took out a seven-year loan of $8,000 loan from his bank. The bank charges an interest rate of 5 percent, compounded yearly.
Nookie1986 [14]

Assuming the loan is as described, seven-year loan, which means that Kyle does not repay a cent before seven years.

This is a compound interest problem where n=7 years, interest rate i=0.05, and present value P=8000.

At the end of seven years, Kyle will have to pay

Future value = F = P(1+i)^n = 8000(1.05)^7 = 11256.80 (to the nearest cent)
