Describe how finches of the Galapagos Islands adapted over time.
konstantin123 [22]

Answer:

Darwin observed the Galapagos finches had a graded series of beak sizes and shapes and predicted these species were modified from one original mainland species.

Darwin called differences among species natural selection, which is caused by the inheritance of traits, competition between individuals, and the variation of traits.

Offspring with inherited characteristics that allow them to best compete will survive and have more offspring than those individuals with variations that are less able to compete.

Large-billed finches feed more efficiently on large, hard seeds, whereas smaller billed finches feed more efficiently on small, soft seeds.

When small, soft seeds become rare, large-billed finches will survive better, and there will be more larger-billed birds in the following generation; when large, hard seeds become rare, the opposite will occur.

Answer: By looking at all the age population pyramids, this would be my best guess. Every territory is different with various populations, however, to the best of my knowledge, it would be the expansive pyramid.

Explanation: Expansive population pyramids are used to describe populations that are young and growing. They are often characterized by their typical ‘pyramid’ shape, which has a broad base and narrow top. Expansive population pyramids show a larger percentage of the population in the younger age cohorts, usually with each age cohort smaller in size than the one below it. These types of populations are typically representative of developing nations, whose populations often have high fertility rates and lower than average life expectancies.

Describe the structure and function of fatty acid molecules, including the difference between saturated and unsaturated fatty ac
NeX [460]
A fatty acid has two main parts: 1) a long hydrocarbon chain and 2) a carboxylic acid group. The hydrocarbon chain is how we can tell if it is saturated or not. If there are carbons-carbon double bonds, then it would be unsaturated. Saturated fatty acids have no double bonds.
Fatty acids are very important to the body for several reasons. They are essential to the structure of the cell membrane, they can be used for long term energy storage, healthy brain function, targeting molecules for many proteins, as well as cellular messengers.
