Step 1) Find out how much of the circle we need to find the area of

In the missing piece of the circle, we can see a right angle, or 90 degrees. Let's find the fraction of the circle that is remaining.

360 - 90 = 270

Remaining fraction: 270/360 = 3/4

Step 2) Find the area of the whole circle

A = pi x r^2

A = pi x 4^2

A = 16pi

Step 3) Use the fraction we found in step 1 and multiply that fraction by the area of the whole circle

16pi x 3/4 = 12pi

A = 12pi = 37.68 units^2
