So, the first cake needs x cups of flower. The second x+1/2 and the third 2x

in total this is x+x+1/2+2x=4x+1/2.

soo

$4x+ \frac{1}{2} =8 \frac{1}{2}$

$4x= 8 \frac{1}{2}- \frac{1}{2}$
4x=8
x=2

this is the first cake, the second will have 2$\frac{1}{2}$

and the last one twice as much as the first, so 4
