Explain how a secular view of the Catholic Church differed from a traditional view of the Catholic Church during the Renaissance
MA_775_DIABLO [31]

A secular view of the Catholic Church during the 15th century proposed that the Pope held supreme authority over the institution. However, this thought was questioned on numerous occasions during the Renaissance. This series of events caused the formation of Conciliarism. A reform movement that held that the supreme authority of the Church resided in the Ecumenical Council or a group of theological experts and ecclesiastical dignitaries. Even though Conciliarism proposed changes regarding the organization of the Catholic Church, it maintained a traditional view regarding the relationship between man and God, in other words, the adherence of people to God's mandates.

Why might Christian missionaries have thought it was okay to convert natives to Christianity
Rus_ich [418]

Answer: Missionaries are convinced that Catholicism is for everyone.

Explanation:

As the dogmas of most monotheistic religions dictate, monotheism is intended for all of humanity. Therefore, Catholicism is no exception. It was these phrases that were held by Catholic missionaries. They thought that this would bring them eternal salvation afterlife on earth.

They also sought to raise the natives to a higher civilization level. Natives often walked naked, and there were stories of cannibalism being represented. Therefore, they tried to eradicate these phenomena by introducing them to Catholicism.
