The temperature coefficient of a certain conducting material is 5.74 × 10-3 (°C)-1. (a) At what temperature would the resistance

be 2 times the resistance at 20.0°C? (Use 20.0°C as the reference point in .) (b) Does this temperature hold for all copper conductors, regardless of shape or size?

Answer:

Temperature at which the resistance is twice the resistance at 20^{\circ}C is 194.216^{\circ}C

Solution:

As per the question:

Temperature coefficient, \alpha = 5.74\times 10^{- 3}^{\circ}C

Reference temperature, T_{o} = 20^{\circ}C

Resistance, R_{t} = 2R_{o}

Now, using the formula:

R_{t} = R_{o}(1 + \alpha \Delta T)

2R_{o} = R_{o}(1 + \alpha \times (T _ T_{o}))

2 = 1 + 5.74\times 10^{- 3}\times (T - 20^{\circ})

\frac{1}{5.74\times 10^{- 3}} = T - 20^{\circ}

T = 174.216 + 20 = 194.216^{\circ}

  • Yes, this temperature holds for all all the conductors of copper, irrespective of the size and shape of the conductor.

Answer:

Chemical reactions occur slower at lower temperatures and faster at higher temperatures. When you put a glow stick in cold water, the chemical reaction slows down but will last for a longer period of time. When you put a glow stick in hot water, the reaction speeds up but will be over quicker.

alexgriva [62]

Answer:

The value is d  =  31.45 \  m

Explanation:

Generally the relative speed at which you are moving with respect to the person ahead of you is mathematically represented as

v_r  =  v_s  - v_c

substituting 1.05 m/s for v_c and 2.75 m/s for v_s

So

v_r  =  2.75  - 1.05

=> v_r  =  1.7 \  m/s

Generally the distance by which the person is ahead of you is mathematically represented as

d =  v_r  *  t

substituting 18.5 s for t

       d =  1.7  * 18.5

=>      d  =  31.45 \  m

1-D catch-up: Two cars move with constant velocities. At t = 0, a blue car is at xBo = 20 m. After t = 4s in the blue car time f
OlgaM077 [116]

Answer:

5.71 m/s ;

20 m/s

Explanation:

Blue car:

At time, t = 0 ; Initial position = 20 m

Final position, = 60m after 4 seconds

The velocity = change in distance / change in time.

Velocity of blue = (60 - 20)m ÷ ((4 + 3) - 0),

Velocity of blue car = 40 / 7

= 5.71 m/s

Red car:

Initial Position = 0 ; final Position = 60

Time taken = 3 seconds

Velocity of Red car = (60 - 0)m ÷ 3

Velocity of Red car = 60 / 3

= 20 m/s
