The IRB chairs are selected by the Institutional Official and/or Vice President for Research
. The experience of the current and former IRB members is used for the selection of these chairs. Their service lasts for 3 years. They can also renew it for 1 or 2 years that depends on the terms and conditions.
IRB chairs has the following responsibilities.
- They conduct meetings and they are in charge of approving the minutes.
- They lead and conduct discussions that are related to procedural and controversial matters.
- they maintain confidentiality of the IRB discussions.
- They manage the conflicts of interests among the members.
- They document the discussions of IRB and the findings.
- They can approve the new changes like contact information,etc.
