Answer:

length of a rectangle deck = l = 26 square

width of a rectangle deck = w = 22 square

Step-by-step explanation:

Let,

length of a rectangle deck = l

width of a rectangle deck = w

Given Data:

Area of the deck = 572 square feet

According to given condition;

w = l - 4

To Find Out:

length of a rectangle deck = i = ?

width of a rectangle deck = w = ?

Formula:

Area of a rectangle = A = l × w

Solution:

Area of a rectangle = A = l × w

572 =  l × w

572 =  l × ( l - 4)

572 = l^{2}  - 4l

l^{2}  - 4l - 572 = 0

l^{2}  - 26l + 22l - 572 = 0

(l^{2}  - 26l) + (22l - 572) = 0

l(l  - 26) + 22(l - 26) = 0

(l  - 26) (l + 22) = 0

l - 26=0 \\     or     l+22=0

l =26 \\     or     l=-22

As length is always positive so, l =26 \\ square

w = 26 - 4

w = 22 square

Answer:

26 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

w: width

w+4 : length

w(w+4) = 572

w² + 4w - 572 = 0

w² + 26w - 22w - 572 = 0

w(w+26) - 22(w+26) = 0

(w-22)(w+26) = 0

w = 22, -26

width = 22 feet

length = w+4 = 22+4 = 26 feet

What are the zeros of the quadratic function f(x) = 2x2 + 8x – 3? x = –2 – and x = –2 + x = –2 – and x = –2 + x = 2 – and x = 2
Scorpion4ik [409]
The given quadratic function is:

f(x)=2 x^{2} +8x-3

The zeros of the quadratic functions also known as its roots can be found using the quadratic formula.

According to the quadratic formula:

x= \frac{-b+- \sqrt{ b^{2}-4ac } }{2a}
here,
b = coefficient of x-term
a = coefficient of x²-term
c = costant term

For given function:
a = 2
b = 8
c = - 3

Using these values in the formula, we get:

x= \frac{-8+- \sqrt{64-4(2)(-3)} }{2(2)} \\  \\
x= \frac{-8+- \sqrt{88} }{4} \\  \\
x= \frac{-8+-2 \sqrt{22}}{4} \\  \\
x= \frac{-4+- \sqrt{22} }{2} \\  \\
x= \frac{-4+ \sqrt{22} }{2}, x= \frac{-4- \sqrt{22} }{2}

Thus, these values of x are the zeros of the given quadratic function f(x)=2x²+8x-3

At Devon's new job he spent $12.99, $10.50, $9.89, $6.90, and $7.58 on lunch the first week.
Mrac [35]
The mean for the second week increased by $0.40.

The mean for the first week is found by adding the data points and dividing by 5:
(12.99+10.50+9.89+6.90+7.58)/5 = $9.57

Since the cost increased by $2 the second week, we add two to the data points before dividing by 5:
(12.99+10.50+9.89+6.90+7.58+2)/5 = $9.97

To find the increase in means, subtract them:
9.97-9.57 = $0.40.
