A common noun is a non-specific person, place, or thing. A proper noun is a specific person, place, or organization and is often denoted by a capital letter at the beginning.
Common nouns will be <em>italicized </em>and proper nouns will be bolded.
2.1 <em>Golf</em> is a <em>game</em> that <em>people</em> say was invented in Scotland.
2.2 When a <em>soccer ball</em> is kicked into a <em>goal post</em>, a <em>goal</em> is scored.
2.3 The Little League World Series is held in Pennsylvania.
2.4 If Megan dances well, she will be chosen for the <em>trip</em> to New York City.
2.5 Michael Phelps won eight <em>gold medals</em> at the Olympic Games in China.
