The prototype is a system that is used to describe that whatever we perceived to have the complete image with qualities that are required. In psychology, the prototype is related to our cognition in which our things are organized in a graded way. We can say that something is more organized in the graded organization.

The year is the time required to complete one orbital trip around the sun. 
The Earth's rotation has nothing to do with the length of the year.

The Earth's period of axial rotation determines the total length of the day, and the breakdown of light and dark in any one place.  Our orbital motion has some influence on that but not a lot.
