Hey there! I'm happy to help!

In geometry, a polygon with all equal sides is called an equilateral polygon. You can see the words equal and lateral in that word. Lateral has to do with sides, so the word equilateral literally means "equal sides". How cool!

Have a wonderful day! :D

Mr. Pham wrote the equation below on the board. 18 - 7x = -20.5 What is the value of x?
slavikrds [6]
Use the arithmetic operations to get the variable x on one side of the equation and everything else on the opposite side.

If something is being is being done to a variable, we undo that operation by using the inverse of that operation.

For example, if 10 is being added to x, we use the inverse of addition or subtraction.

18 - 7x = -20.5

We variable x is being multiplied by 7 and is subtracting 18. We need to undo all those operations.

18 - 7x = -20.5
-7x = -38.5

Now the variable is only being multiplied by -7. Reverse the operation.

-7x = -38.5
x = 5.5

So, x is equal to 5.5.

What is the probability that a customer ordered a hot drink given that he or she ordered a large?
valkas [14]
First add the number of total larges ordered 22+5=27 then divide 22/27=.814 to make the answer a percent times by 100. .814x100=81.5% to double check you can multiply .814 by number of larges and should get number of hot larges ordered. .814x27=22

Mary took 8 tests in science and received the following scores: 87,60,76,92,63,91,88,75
MariettaO [177]

Answers:

  • mean = 79
  • mode = none
  • median = 81.5

=================================================

Explanation:

To get the mean, you add up the numbers and then divide by n = 8, since there are 8 scores

Adding the scores gets us: 87+60+76+92+63+91+88+75 = 632

Divide that over n = 8 to get 632/n = 632/8 = 79

The mean is 79

You have the correct answer. Nice work.

---------------

The mode is the most frequent value.

In this data set, we don't have any repeated values. Each unique number is listed one time only. So that tells us we don't have a mode here.

---------------

To get the median, we need to sort the items from smallest to largest

{87,60,76,92,63,91,88,75} sorts to {60,63,75,76,87,88,91,92}

Because we have n = 8 values, which is an even number, this tells us that the median is between slot n/2 = 8/2 = 4 and slot 5

The values 76,87 are in slots four and five in that order. Add them up and divide by 2:  (76+87)/2 = 163/2 = 81.5 is the median
