The ratio of the number of Yankee fans to Red Sox fans is 5:4 Then there are 72 players

<u>Solution:</u>

Given, the ratio of players to fans is 4 : 20

The ratio of the number of Yankee fans to Red Sox fans is 5:4.

There are 200 Yankee fans.

We have to find how many players are there?

Now, for 5 yankee fans ⇒ 4 red sox fans

Then, for 200 yankee fans ⇒ “n” red sox fans

So, by chris cross method,

\begin{array}{l}{5 \times n=4 \times 200} \\\\ {\rightarrow 5 n=800 \rightarrow n=160}\end{array}

So, there are 200 yankee fans and 160 red sox fans

Then, total number of fans = 200 yankee + 160 red sox = 360 fans

Now, we know that,

For 4 players ⇒ 20 fans

Then, “p” ⇒ 360 fans

Now, by chris cross method,

\begin{array}{l}{4 \times 360=20 \times p} \\\\ {\rightarrow 20 p=4 \times 360} \\\\ {\rightarrow 2 p=4 \times 36} \\\\ {\rightarrow p=2 \times 36 \rightarrow p=72}\end{array}

Hence, there are 72 players

I need a step by step explanation on how you solved the equation.
Ghella [55]

Answer: x=3 and y=−2

Step-by-step explanation:

x=−2y−1;4x−4y=20

Step: Solve x=−2y−1 for x:

Step: Substitute−2y−1 for x in 4x−4y=20:

4x−4y=20

4(−2y−1)−4y=20

−12y−4=20(Simplify both sides of the equation)

−12y−4+4=20+4(Add 4 to both sides)

−12y=24

−12y

−12

=

24

−12

(Divide both sides by -12)

y=−2

Step: Substitute−2 for y x=−2y−1:

x=−2y−1

x=(−2)(−2)−1

x=3(Simplify both sides of the equation)

The line segment formed by joining points A (-1,y) B (0,0), and the line segment joined by forming points C (6,3) D (8,9) share
Airida [17]

Answer:

<h3>-3</h3>

Step-by-step explanation:

For two parallel lines. their slope are equal

Find the slope of each of the lines

For line A;

m = 0 -y/0+1

mA = -y/1

For line B;

mB = 9 - 3/8 - 6

mB = 6/2

mB = 3

since their slope are equal hence mA = mB

-y/1 = 3

-y = 3

y = -3

Hence the value of y is -3
