When these plants die they no longer release water into the atmosphere through transpiration. This works with other factors to decrease the humidity and therefore cloud formation. Reaction and response loop. The plant is reacting to the amount of water, therefore it begins to die from there being less of it. The response from the plant dying means the answer. I'm not sure about this, but here is my answer that I would give.
