Find the inverse of the function y=2x^2+2

Mathematics

The inverse of the function is y = \sqrt{\frac{x - 2}{2}}

In order to find this, you must start by switching the y and x values. Once you do this, you can solve for the new y value and that will be in inverse. The work is done for you below.

y = 2x^2 + 2 ---> switch x and y

x = 2y^2 + 2 ---> subtract 2 from both sides

x - 2 = 2y^2 ---> divide both sides by 2

\frac{x-2}{2} = y^2 ---> take the square root of both sides.

\sqrt{\frac{x - 2}{2}} = y

Find the equation of the line that passes through (9,-4) and (-1,-8).
Xelga [282]

Answer:

y =  \frac{2}{5} x - 7 \frac{3}{5}

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Slope-intercept </u><u>form</u>

y= mx +c, where m is the gradient and c is the y-intercept.

\boxed{gradient =  \frac{y1 - y2}{x1 - x2} }

Gradient

=  \frac{ - 4 - ( - 8)}{9 - ( - 1)}

=  \frac{ - 4 + 8}{9 + 1}

=  \frac{4}{10}

=  \frac{2}{5}

Substitute the value of the gradient into the equation:

y =  \frac{2}{5} x + c

To find the value of the y-intercept, substitute a pair of coordinates.

When x= -1, y= -8,

- 8 =  \frac{2}{5} ( - 1) + c

- 8 =  -  \frac{2}{5}  + c

c =  - 8 +  \frac{2}{5}

c =  - 7 \frac{3}{5}

Thus the equation of the line is y =   \frac{2}{5} x - 7 \frac{3}{5}.

Colinda has just purchased her first home for $125,000. She put down a 20 percent down payment of $25,000 and took out a 4 perce
zvonat [6]
Answer: $333 Interest and $144 Principal

To find the values for this payment, you will need to use an amortization calculator. If you were not given one, there are numerous ones online.

Simply enter the amount of the loan $100,000. Then, the number of years, 30 is standard. Finally, enter the percent.

It will show you that the total payment is $477 and also the break down of the payment as given in the answer.

nata0808 [166]

Answer: (i think there was supposed to be a photo attached but ???)

-1.05

Step-by-step explanation:

1.5(-3.2 + 2.5)

1.5 x -3.2 = -4.8

1.5 x 2.5 = 3.75

(-4.8 + 3.75)
