Jennifer have 8 quarters, 12 dimes and 36 nickels.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Worth of coins = $5.00 = 5*100 = 500 cents

One quarter = 25 cents

One dime = 10 cents

One nickel = 5 cents

Let,

x = number of quarters

y = number of dimes

z = number of nickels

According to given statement;

25x+10y+5z=500     Eqn 1

y = x+4                      Eqn 2

z = 3y

z = 3(x+4)    => z = 3x+12   Eqn 3

Putting value of y and z from Eqn 2 and 3 in Eqn 1

25x+10(x+4)+5(3x+12)=500\\25x+10x+40+15x+60=500\\50x+100=500\\50x=500-100\\50x=400

Dividing both sides by 50

\frac{50x}{50}=\frac{400}{50}\\x=8

Putting x = 8 in Eqn 2

y=8+4\\y=12

Putting x=8 in Eqn 3

z=3(8)+12\\z=24+12\\z=36

Jennifer have 8 quarters, 12 dimes and 36 nickels.

Segment FG begins at point F(-2, 4) and ends at point G(-2, -3). The segment is translated 3 units left and 2 units up, then ref
Alexus [3.1K]

Answer:

F'G' = 7

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

F = (-2,4)

G = (-2,-3)

Required

Distance of F'G'

The transformation that give rise to F'G' from FG are:

  • Translation
  • Reflection

The above transformations are referred to as rigid transformation, and as such the side lengths remain unchanged.

i.e.

F'G' = FG

Calculating FG, we have:

FG = \sqrt{(x_1 - x_2)^2 + (y_1 - y_2)^2}

Where:

F = (-2,4) --- (x_1,y_1)

G = (-2,-3) --- (x_2,y_2)

FG = \sqrt{(-2 - -2)^2 + (4 - -3)^2}

FG = \sqrt{(0)^2 + (7)^2}

FG = \sqrt{0 + 49}

FG = \sqrt{49}

Take positive square root

FG = 7

Recall that:

F'G' = FG

F'G' = 7

Lucas invested money in two accounts: one paying 3% interest and the other paying 5% interest. He invested $100 more in the 5% a
Anni [7]
He invested "a" at 3% and "b" at 5%

now, he invested 100 more in "b", so, whatever "a" may be, b = a + 100

now, how much is the interest yield of each? well
how much is 3% of a? well, (3/100) * a, or 0.03a
and 5% of b? well (5/100) * b, or 0.05b

now, we know the total yield was 53 bucks, thus 0.03a + 0.05b = 53

thus    \bf \begin{cases}
\boxed{b}=a+100\\
0.03a+0.05b=53\\
----------\\
0.03a+0.05\left( \boxed{a+100} \right)=53
\end{cases}

solve for "a", to see how much was invested at 3%

what about "b"?  well, b = a + 100

Answer :

(1) \frac{1}{x}+\frac{1}{y}=\frac{y+x}{xy}

(2) \frac{1}{5x}+\frac{1}{3y}=\frac{3y+5x}{15xy}

(3) \frac{1}{7x}-\frac{1}{2y}=\frac{2y-7x}{14xy}

(4) \frac{2}{5x}+\frac{3}{7y}=\frac{6y+15x}{21xy}

(5) \frac{7}{11x}-\frac{1}{33y}=\frac{231y-11x}{363xy}

(6) \frac{1}{2x}+\frac{3}{x}-\frac{1}{7y}=\frac{7y+42y-2x}{14xy}

Step-by-step explanation :

(1) The given expression is: \frac{1}{x}+\frac{1}{y}

\frac{1}{x}+\frac{1}{y}=\frac{y+x}{xy}

(2) The given expression is: \frac{1}{5x}+\frac{1}{3y}

\frac{1}{5x}+\frac{1}{3y}=\frac{3y+5x}{(5x)\times (3y)}=\frac{3y+5x}{15xy}

(3) The given expression is: \frac{1}{7x}-\frac{1}{2y}

\frac{1}{7x}-\frac{1}{2y}=\frac{2y-7x}{(7x)\times (2y)}=\frac{2y-7x}{14xy}

(4) The given expression is: \frac{2}{5x}+\frac{3}{7y}

\frac{2}{5x}+\frac{3}{7y}=\frac{(2\times 3y)+(3\times 5x)}{(5x)\times (7y)}=\frac{6y+15x}{21xy}

(5) The given expression is: \frac{7}{11x}-\frac{1}{33y}

\frac{7}{11x}-\frac{1}{33y}=\frac{(7\times 33y)-(1\times 11x)}{(11x)\times (33y)}=\frac{231y-11x}{363xy}

(6) The given expression is: \frac{1}{2x}+\frac{3}{x}-\frac{1}{7y}

\frac{1}{2x}+\frac{3}{x}-\frac{1}{7y}=\frac{(x\times 7y)+(3\times 2x\times 7y)-(2x\times x)}{(2x)\times (x)\times (7y)}=\frac{7xy+42xy-2x^2}{14x^2y}=\frac{7y+42y-2x}{14xy}
