How to write an equation for functions

Mathematics

Functions main problem is to find the missing variable. A function is an equation in which all of the variables are dependent. For example: if you buy 2 bags of oranges and you pay ten dollars for them but the amount of money you pay for the oranges would change each time you add another bag of oranges and how much you owe for the oranges is the dependent variable. So writing a equation would mainly look like this:

2x = 10\\v2 = c\\

<span>So each time you add another bag of oranges the number will increase v3, v4, etc...
</span>

Hope this helps!

A function is an equation that has only one answer for y for every x. A function assigns exactly one output to each input of a specified type. It is common to name a function either f(x) or g(x) instead of y. f(2) means that we should find the value of our function when x equals 2.

A cylindrical piece of iron pipe is shown below. The wall of the pipe is 0.75 inch thick, and the pipe is open at both ends:
Vadim26 [7]

Answer:

Correct option: fourth one -> 254 cubic inches.

Step-by-step explanation:

The volume of a cylinder is given by the equation:

Volume = \pi * radius^2 * height

To calculate the internal volume of the pipe, we should use its internal radius.

The external radius of the pipe is half of the diameter, and the internal radius is the external radius minus the thickness of the pipe, so we have:

internal\ radius = external\radius - thickness\\internal\ radius = \frac{6}{2}  - 0.75\\internal\ radius = 2.25\ in

Then, using the internal radius in the volume equation, we have that:

Volume = \pi * 2.25^2 * 16

Volume = 254.47\ in3

So the correct option is the fourth one: Volume is approximately 254 cubic inches.

Which of the following sjows the correct key features of the graph?
sammy [17]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

y = x^2 - x - 2 is a quadratic function.  It's easily factorable:  y = (x + 1)(x - 2).  Setting this result equal to zero yields the x-intercepts:  -1 and 2.  This matches the x-intercepts shown on the graph.

The axis of symmetry,  x = -b/(2a), derived from the coefficients 1, -1 and -2 of this particular function, is x = 1/2.  This x = 1/2 is also the x-coordinate of the vertex.  To find the y-coordinate of the vertex, we evaluate y = x^2 - x - 2 at x = 1/2, obtaining:

y = (1/2)^2 - (1/2) - 2, or y = 1/4 - 1/2 - 2, or -2 1/4.  This does not quite agree with the y value (-2) shown in the diagram, but is close.

Which two triangles are reflections of each other across the x-axis?
Inessa05 [86]

Answer: Triangle A and Triangle C

The x axis is the horizontal flat axis (think of it as the ground). Reflect triangle A over this horizontal line and you end up with triangle C. The same can be said in reverse from C to A.
