What was the result in the late sixteenth century of the flow of riches from Spain to other parts of Europe?
Andrej [43]

Answer:

One ironic outcome of the immense wealth Spain acquired - and ultimately squandered - with the colonization of the New World was to make rich others. Great wealth allowed the Spanish kings to fight wars in Europe: against France, in the Netherlands, in Italy and against the Turks in the Mediterranean. But on the other hand, large amounts of those riches - gold, silver - ended in the pockets of the European bankers who had given credits to the Spanish kingdom. Because it lost some wars, Spain had to pay indemnizations and reparations to victors, too. At the same time, much of the treasuries belonging to Spain were stolen by British pirates who attacked and robbed the huge fleets of <em>galeones</em> transporting gold to the Spanish ports. As a Latin American historian once wrote, "Spain had the cow, but others drank the milk."

Name two aspects of life that the Justinian code covered.
gavmur [86]

Answer:

The Justinian Code forms part of the Corpus Juris civilis. Published on April 7, 529, the Justinian Code was drawn up under the Byzantine emperor Justinian by a commission of imperial officials and professors of law schools, chaired by the jurist Tribonien.

It comprises several laws regarding taxes, religion, private relations, crime and legal proceedings, among others. Compared to the previous rules, the Justinian Code is characterized by the fact that the emperor becomes the sole source of law: the emperor alone is invested with the right to impose the rules of law such as injunctions or commandments, this right being withdrawn from the magistrates.

Conquest by the Spanish Mexico was won for Spain by Hernán Cortés (c. 1485–1547), who is best known for defeating the Aztecs. He was a fantastic adventurer and Hernando Cortes' example. The first soldier to travel to Cuba with Diego Velázquez in 1511 was Marquis of the Valley of Oaxaca, Don Hernán Cortés de Monroy y Pizarro Altamirano.
