c) Half of all chronic mental illnesses become present by the age of 14 years, according to the World Health Organization. While most cases are caught early, some go undetected and untreated for years as a person grows.

d) The cost to treat mental illnesses in the United States are surprisingly expensive. Chronic  mental illness can cost our country $193 billion per year in just lost earnings alone, as well as over $100 billion in health care costs, according to a study done by the National Institute of Mental Health.

e) It is the leading cause of death in people aged 15-24 in many European countries according to the ISSP. But it is also the number one leading cause of death in the United States as well. The 2016–2018 death rate among persons aged 10–24 was highest for Alaska (31.4 per 100,000).
