5 1/4 - 2 2/3

first you find the LCM, so u can make both fractions have a like denominator. I'm thinking the LCM is 12, so:

(5 3/12) - (2 8/12)
= 63/12 - 32/12
=31/12
= 2 and 7/12

5 1/4 - 2 2/3 = 2 7/12

21/4 − 8/3

<span>= ((21 × 3) − (8 × 4)) / (4 × 3) </span>

= (63 - 32) / 12

= 31/12

= 31/12

<span>= 2 7/12

EVALUATE THE WORD PROBLEMS
andrezito [222]
Another effective strategy for helping students improve their mathematics performance is related to solving word problems. More specifically, it involves teaching students how to identify word problem types based on a given problem’s underlying structure, or schema. Before learning about this strategy, however, it is helpful to understand why many students struggle with word problems in the first place.

Difficulty with Word Problems

Most students, especially those with mathematics difficulties and disabilities, have trouble solving word problems. This is in large part because word problems require students to:

It takes 15 minutes to preheat your oven to 325 degrees. For an oven preheated to 325 degrees, the recommended cooking time for
Alisiya [41]

Answer:

(a) T = (15 + 16p) minutes

(b) It will takes approximately 239 minutes to prepare a turkey weighing 14 pounds

Step-by-step explanation:

(a) To determine the total time T needed to preheat the oven and then bake a turkey weighing p pounds

We will sum the time needed to preheat the oven to the time needed to bake the turkey.

From the question,

It takes 15 minutes to preheat the oven to 325 degrees;

Also,

It takes 16 minutes per pound to bake a turkey in the preheated oven.

That is, to bake a turkey weighing p pounds in the preheated oven, it will take

p pounds × 16 minutes / pound = 16p minutes

Hence, the total time T needed to preheat the oven and then bake a turkey weighing p pounds is

T = 15 minutes + 16p minutes

T = (15 + 16p) minutes

This is the formula that express the total time T, in minutes, needed to preheat the oven and then bake a turkey

(b) To find the approximate time required to prepare a turkey weighing 14 pounds.

From the formula in (a)

T = (15 + 16p) minutes

where p is the weight in pounds of a turkey

Then,

T = 15 + 16(14)

T = 15 + 224

T = 239 minutes

Hence, it will takes approximately 239 minutes to prepare a turkey weighing 14 pounds

Use chain rule to find dw/dt w=ln(x^2 + y^2 + z^2)^(1/2) , x=sint, y=cost, z=tant
son4ous [18]
The chain rule states that

\dfrac{\mathrm dw}{\mathrm dt}=\dfrac{\partial w}{\partial x}\dfrac{\mathrm dx}{\mathrm dt}+\dfrac{\partial w}{\partial y}\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dt}+\dfrac{\partial w}{\partial z}\dfrac{\mathrm dz}{\mathrm dt}

Since \ln(x^2+y^2+z^2)^{1/2}=\dfrac12\ln(x^2+y^2+z^2), you have

\dfrac{\partial w}{\partial x}=\dfrac x{x^2+y^2+z^2}
\dfrac{\partial w}{\partial x}=\dfrac y{x^2+y^2+z^2}
\dfrac{\partial w}{\partial z}=\dfrac z{x^2+y^2+z^2}

and

\dfrac{\mathrm dx}{\mathrm dt}=\cos t
\dfrac{\mathrm dy}{\mathrm dt}=-\sin t
\dfrac{\mathrm dz}{\mathrm dt}=\sec^2t

Also, since x^2+y^2+z^2=\sin^2t+\cos^2t+\tan^2t=1+\tan^2t=\sec^2t, the derivative is

\dfrac{\mathrm dw}{\mathrm dt}=\dfrac{\sin t\cos t}{\sec^2t}-\dfrac{\sin t\cos t}{\sec^2t}+\dfrac{\tan t\sec^2t}{\sec^2t}
\dfrac{\mathrm dw}{\mathrm dt}=\tan t

Anni [7]

Answer:

Option B

The answer is 16

Step-by-step explanation:

<h3><u>Given</u>;</h3>
  • 4(v – 13) = 12
<h3><u>To </u><u>Find</u>;</h3>
  • The value of v

Now,

4(v – 13) = 12

4(v – 13)/4 = 12/4

v – 13 = 3

v – 13 + 13 = 3 + 13

v = 16

Thus, The value of v is 16
