b) the Moon is not actually directly between the Earth and the Sun during the new Moon because its orbit is tilted relative to the ecliptic plane.

Answer:

c) the moon can only block the Sun when it is furthest away from Earth, and most new Moons happen when the Moon is at another place on its orbit

Explanation:

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon enters the Earth's shadow. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's shadow falls on the Earth. They do not happen every month because the Earth's orbit around the sun is not in the same plane as the Moon's orbit around the Earth.

Question Mode Multiple Select Question Select all that apply Which factors affect mechanical weathering? Multiple select questio
FinnZ [79.3K]

Answer:

Temperature and pressure

Explanation:

mechanical weathering is the disintegration/breakdown of rocks and this mainly caused the agents of mechanical weathering which are ; water , wind and ice, and this agents of mechanical weathering achieve this due the factors Temperature and pressure.

Temperature : The continuous heating and cooling of rock surfaces cause s wear and tear on the rocks leading to mechanical weathering

pressure : Ice water found in cracks of rocks exert pressure on the rocks and this also causes the rocks to disintegrate overtime

What causes the cyclical changes in the appearance of the moon?
Varvara68 [4.7K]

The changes in the phases of the Moon are caused by its position towards the Sun, not as it is commonly thought that it is because of the Earth's shadow on it.

What we see from the Moon, the bright part and the almost invisible dark part (looking with bear eyes of course), is only dependent on how the Moon is positioned towards the Sun. The part that is bright is the part that faces the Sun, while the part that is dark is the part that is on the opposite side, thus not facing the Sun.

Depending on the Moon's position towards the Earth as well, we can sometimes see it as partially bright, as half bright, full bright, and everything in between, and that depends on how the Moon is positioned towards the Earth.
