Answer:

g(x)=2x^2-10

Step-by-step explanation:

The function f(x) is given by

f(x)=2x^2-8

The quadratic function g(x) is obtained by translating f(x) 2 units down.

We use the below rule to find the equation for g (x)

Rule:- If a function f(x) is translated 'c' units down then the equation of the translated function be f(x)-c

Here, f(x) is translated 2 units down to obtain g(x).

Hence, we have

g(x)=f(x)-2\\\\g(x)=2x^2-8-2\\\\g(x)=2x^2-10

Move down c units means minus 2 from whole function

f(x) moved down 2 units means f(x)-2
so

f(x)-2=2x²-8-2
f(x)-2=2x²-10

g(x)=2x²-10

Ray Of Light [21]

I let the computer do the graphing.

f(x) = x(x + 3)²(1 - x) / 3

We see obvious zeros at x=0, x=-3 and x=1.

f(x) = x(x + 3)²(1 - x) / 3

f(x) = x(x^2 + 6x + 9)(1 - x)/3

f(x) = x(x^2 + 6x + 9 - x^3 - 6x^2 - 9x)/3

f(x) = x(- x^3 - 5x^2 -3x +9)/3

f(x) = (-x^4 - 5x^3 -3x^2 +9x)/3

f'(x) = (-4x^3 - 15x^2 -6x + 9)/3

We know there's f'(-3)=0 so x+3 must be a factor here,

f'(x) = (x + 3) (-4x^2 - 3x + 3)

We get stationary points when x = -3 or

x = (-1/8)( 3 ± √(9 - 4(-4)(3))) =  (-3 ± √57)/8  about -1.3 and 0.6 which are a local minimum and maximum respectively.

f''(x) = (-12x^2 - 30x -6)/3 = -4x^2 - 10x - 2

f''(-3) = -4(9)+ 30 - 2 = -8

Concave Down, Negative.   (-3,0) is a local maximum.

f''((-3 - √57)/8) = -4(-1.3)^2 - 10(-1.3) - 2 = 4.24

Concave up, positive, a CUP

(-3 - √57)/8, f((-3 - √57)/8) ) is a minimum.

f''((-3 + √57)/8) = -4(.6)^2 - 10(.6) - 2 = -9.44

CDN, ( ((-3 + √57)/8), f((-3 + √57)/8) ) is a maximum.

I didn't evaluate f((-3 ±√57)/8) which are around -3 and 1 but I leave that calculation to you.

A line with a slope of 2 passes through the point (9, 10). What is its equation in slope-intercept
defon

Answer:

y=2x-8

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi there!

We want are given a line with a slope of 2, that passes through the point (9, 10)

We want to find the equation of this line in slope-intercept form

Slope-intercept form can be written as y=mx+b, where m is the slope and b is the y intercept

As we are already given the slope, we can immediately plug it in as m in the formula.

y=2x+b

Now we need to find b, which is the value of the y intercept

As the equation passes through the point (9, 10), it is a solution to the equation, meaning that if we plug it into the equation of the line, it will create a true statement.

So we can use its values of x and y to help us solve for b.
Substitute 9 as x and 10 as y in the equation.

10=2(9) + b

multiply

10=18+b

Subtract 18 from both sides to isolate b on one side

-8=b
Substitute -8 as b into the equation

y=2x-8
Hope this helps!

In 2010 polls indicated that 75% of Americans favored mandatory testing of students in public schools as a way to rate the schoo
ollegr [7]

Answer:

C. If 75% of Americans still favor mandatory testing this year, then there is a 3% chance that poll results will show 72% or fewer with this opinion.

Step-by-step explanation:

Significance level or alpha level is the probability of rejecting the null hypothesis when null hypothesis is true. It is considered as a probability of making a wrong decision. It is a statistical test which determines probability of type I error. If the obtained probability is equal of less than critical probability value then reject the null hypothesis. In this question the sample of 1000 Americans is under test. It is the result of the poll that 75% still favor mandatory testing.
