Lets say that x is the amount in dollar that both Elijah and his sister spent on the snacks in the movie

The equality would be :
2x  = 34 - (2 * 9.50)

2x  = 34 - 19

2x = 15

x  = $ 7.5

What are the exact solutions of x2 + 5x + 1 = 0? (5 points)
Rus_ich [418]

Answer:

x=\frac{-5\pm\sqrt{21}  }{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

We use the quadratic formula here which says for a quadratic equation ax^2+bx+c=0.

x= \frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac} }{2a}

Now in our case

a=1\\b=5\\c=1

so we have:

x=\frac{-5\pm\sqrt{5^2-4(1)(1)}  }{2(1)} =\frac{-5\pm\sqrt{21}  }{2}

\boxed{x=\frac{-5\pm\sqrt{21}  }{2} }

Which are our solutions.

A local store, Faith Ltd has two options to choose either Big Van or Small Van or both types of van to supply bags of rice to lo
Nady [450]

Answer:

Cheapest cost to pay = £906

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

Rice to supply = 50 tonnes

Option A:

Big van has capacity of 15 tonnes.

Number of big vans = \frac{50}{15}=3.33

It means that 4 big vans will be needed for transporting 50 tonnes of rice.

Cost of 4 vans = 4*250 = £1000

Option B:

Small van has capacity of 9 tonnes.

Number of small vans = \frac{50}{9} = 5.55

It means that 6 small vans will be nedded for transporting 50 tonnes of rice.

Cost of 6 vans = 6*151 = £906

Therefore,

The company can transport the rice through small vans.

Hence,

Cheapest cost to pay = £906

Answer:

2 bowls of soup

<u>1. Make 1 1/4 an improper fraction</u>

1 1/4 = 5/4

<u>2. Then divide 5/4 by 5/8 (KCF - </u><u>Keep</u><u> the 5/4 - </u><u>Change</u><u> the division sign to multiplication - '</u><u>Flip' </u><u>5/8 to 8/5)</u>

5/4 x 8/5 = 40/20

<u>3. Simplify the fraction (divide the numerator and denominator by 20)</u>

40/20 = 2

<u>4. Final answer:</u>

2 (bowls of soup)

Two cars are driving toward each other with the speeds 30 mph and 40 mph respectively. If the distance between them are 350 mile
nekit [7.7K]
Time = Distance /  speed

Let X = number of hours.

Car 1 is driving 30 miles per hour for X hours, so you have  30x.
Car 2 is driving 40 miles per hour for x hours, so you have 40x.

30x +40x = 70x

70x = 350 miles
x = 350 / 70
x = 5

They will meet in 5 hours
