cats: 2t

fish: 5t

16= 2t + 5t + t

dogs: 2, cats: 4, fish: 10

so if Amy has 2 dogs, she would have 4 cats (twice as many dogs) and 10 fish (5 times as many dogs).

Answer:

\displaystyle \large{y =  \frac{1}{4} x + 1}

Step-by-step explanation:

Whenever you solve a word problem, our first step is to read and gather the information we find.

<em>"</em><em>A</em><em> </em><em>l</em><em>i</em><em>n</em><em>e</em><em> </em><em>i</em><em>n</em><em>t</em><em>e</em><em>r</em><em>s</em><em>e</em><em>c</em><em>t</em><em>s</em><em> </em><em>t</em><em>h</em><em>e</em><em> </em><em>p</em><em>o</em><em>i</em><em>n</em><em>t</em><em> </em><em>(</em><em>-</em><em>8</em><em>,</em><em>-</em><em>1</em><em>)</em><em> </em><em>a</em><em>n</em><em>d</em><em> </em><em>h</em><em>a</em><em>s</em><em> </em><em>a</em><em> </em><em>s</em><em>l</em><em>o</em><em>p</em><em>e</em><em> </em><em>o</em><em>f</em><em> </em><em>1</em><em>/</em><em>4</em><em>.</em><em> </em><em>W</em><em>h</em><em>a</em><em>t</em><em> </em><em>i</em><em>s</em><em> </em><em>t</em><em>h</em><em>e</em><em> </em><em>s</em><em>l</em><em>o</em><em>p</em><em>e</em><em>-</em><em>i</em><em>n</em><em>t</em><em>e</em><em>r</em><em>c</em><em>e</em><em>p</em><em>t</em><em> </em><em>e</em><em>q</em><em>u</em><em>a</em><em>t</em><em>i</em><em>o</em><em>n</em><em> </em><em>f</em><em>o</em><em>r</em><em> </em><em>t</em><em>h</em><em>i</em><em>s</em><em> </em><em>l</em><em>i</em><em>n</em><em>e</em><em>?</em><em>"</em>

After reading the question, I am going to highlight or bold the contexts that are important to our problem-solving.

<em>"</em><em>A line intersects the point (-8,-1) and has a slope of 1/4. What is the slope-intercept equation for this line?</em><em>"</em>

First, let's understand that <em><u>slope-intercept equation is in the form of y = mx+b where m = slope and b = y-intercept</u></em>

After reading the context, what do we know?

  • a slope of 1/4
  • a line passes through (-8,-1)
  • write in slope-intercept form

We finally have the information — our first step is to write our slope-intercept equation.

\displaystyle \large{y = mx + b}

We know that m is slope which is 1/4 — substitute in the equation.

\displaystyle \large{y =  \frac{1}{4} x + b}

We have used the two information which are a slope of 1/4 and slope-intercept equation.

That only leaves to one information which is a line that passes through (-8,-1).

Since the graph has to pass through the point, we substitute x = -8 and y = -1.

\displaystyle \large{ - 1=  \frac{1}{4} ( - 8)+ b}

After using all information, it seems that we are solving for b-term or y-intercept.

\displaystyle \large{ - 1=  \frac{1}{1} ( - 2)+ b}

From above — cross-division.

\displaystyle \large{ - 1=  1( - 2)+ b} \\  \displaystyle \large{ - 1=   - 2+ b}

Add both sides by 2 to isolate b-term.

\displaystyle \large{ - 1 + 2=   - 2 + 2+ b} \\ \displaystyle \large{ 1=    b}

Therefore, the value of b is 1. From the equation:

\displaystyle \large{y =  \frac{1}{4} x + b}

Substitute b = 1 in the equation.

\displaystyle \large{y =  \frac{1}{4} x + 1}

And we're done!

Which function represents transforming ƒ(x) = 3x with a reflection over the x-axis and a vertical shift of 4 units?
Oxana [17]

Answer:

D. h(x)=-3x+4

Step-by-step explanation:

we are given

f(x)=3x

Firstly, it is reflected over x-axis

we know that for reflection about x-axis , we can replace y as -y

we get

g(x)=-f(x)

g(x)=-3x

now, it is vertical shift up by 4 units

so, we can add 4 to y-value

we get

h(x)=g(x)+4

h(x)=-3x+4

Mark and his three friends ate out at Applebee’s. Their bill totaled $52.35. If they left the server a 20% tip, how much would e
Basile [38]
Hey there!

For this problem, you'll first want to calculate how much the bill will be including the 20% tip. To convert a percentage to a decimal, take the decimal point to the left two numbers. Remember that 20 is the same thing as 20.0.

20% = 0.2

Next, multiply the amount by that decimal, then add the tip to the total bill.

<span>$52.35 * 0.2 = $10.47 (tip amount)
</span>$52.35 + $10.47 = $62.82 (total including tip)

Now, just divide that by four people to get your final answer.

$62.82 / 4 = $15.705

Because you can't have half of a cent, the problem probably just wants you to round up to $15.71, even though this will make the bill equal to $62.84.

Hope this helped you out! :-)

Please help with answer an explain why that is the answer..<br> Will pick brainliest promise...

A negative association means as one increases, the other decreases. For example x goes up 1 and y goes down 1.

Because set B and set D show positive correlation, they can automatically be deleted.

Set A shows a negative correlation, however the change between the x and y value are steady. As x increase one, y decreases one. So the line is straight meaning it is linear.

Leaving our answer to be C

We can check this by looking at the chart, the chart shows a negative correlation between the values, we can also check to see that it is not linear because it begins with x rising a and y decreasing two, however it then changes to f rising one and y decreasing 1. So the equation is non-linear

So your answer is
C. Set C

An outlier in math is a value on a graph that varies greatly from all the others, it is either way higher or way lower than the other values. This is shown by point D because it is far away from the rest of the data on the table.

So your answer is
D. Point D

As the temperature increases, the amount of jackets decreases. This shows a negative association. So because the temperature is increasing the number of jackets decreases, so answer choices A and C can be eliminated because they each say the number of coats will increase. And as previously stated, as the temperature increases the amount of jackets decreases, meaning the association is negative.

So your answer is
B. The number of coats in the coat check will decrease because the graph shows a negative association.
