Answer:

New width will be 6.807\ ft larger than old width.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given width of room is 9.3\ ft

And length of room is 6.2\ ft

Then the old area will be (9.3\times 6.2)

Also we have to make this room three times larger as it is now.

We can see the ratio between width and length of room is \frac{9.3}{6.2}=1.5

let us say the length of new room is x

So, width of room will be 1.5\times x

And we know area of rectangle is length\times width

Also, the new area will be 3\times (9.3\times 6.2)

Then the equation will be

x\times 1.5\times x=3\times(9.3\times 6.2)\\1.5\times x^2=172.89\\x^2=\frac{172.89}{1.5}\\ x^2=115.32\\x=\sqrt{115.32}\\x=10.73\ ft

So, the width of new room is

1.5\times x=1.5\times 10.738\\width=16.107\ ft

So, the increment in width is

16.107-9.3=6.807\ ft

Suppose Miss Roxanne Davenport is 25 years old right now and puts away $1,800 per quarter in an account that returns 6% interest
Lena [83]

We have been given that miss Roxanne is 25 years old and she puts 1800 dollars per quarter that returns 6% interest.

(a) We need to figure out how much will be in the account when she turns 65 years old. When she turns 65 years old, the number of years during which she made deposits would be 40. Since she made quarterly deposits. She made a total of 160 deposits. We can now figure out the final amount in the account using future value of annuity formula.

A=P\frac{(1+r)^{n}-1}{r}

We have the values P=1800, r=6/4% = 1.5% = 0.015 and n=160.

Therefore, the amount in the account would be:

A=1800\frac{(1+0.015)^{160}-1}{0.015}=1179415.39

Therefore, miss Roxanne will be 1179415.39 dollars in her account when she turns 65 years old.

(b) In this part we need to figure out the total amount she deposited.

The total amount she deposited would be 1800*160=\$288000.

(c) We can find the interest earned by subtracting her contribution from the answer of part (a).

Interest earned = 1179415.39-288000=\$891415.39

One number i ix le than a econd number. Four time the firt i 2 more than 6 time the econd. Find the number
Kruka [31]

When the difference between one and two numbers is two, the two numbers are -10 and -12.

Given that,

The difference between one and two numbers is two. Twelve more than six times the second is four times the first.

We have to find the number.

We know that,

The system of equation we get

x=y-2 ----->equation(1)

4x=12+6y ----->equation(2)

Substitute for x in the equation(2)

4(y-2)=12+6y

4y-8=12+6y

4y-6y=12+8

-2y=20

y=-10

Substitute y=-10 in equation(1)

x=-10-2

x=-12

Therefore, The two numbers area -10 and -12 when the difference between one and two numbers is two.

Find the length of the arc and express your answer as a fraction times pie
Elina [12.6K]

Solution:

Given a circle of center, A with radius, r (AB) = 6 units

Where, the area, A, of the shaded sector, ABC, is 9π

To find the length of the arc, firstly we will find the measure of the angle subtended by the sector.

To find the area, A, of a sector, the formula is

\begin{gathered} A=\frac{\theta}{360\degree}\times\pi r^2 \\ Where\text{ r}=AB=6\text{ units} \\ A=9\pi\text{ square units} \end{gathered}

Substitute the values of the variables into the formula above to find the angle, θ, subtended by the sector.

\begin{gathered} 9\pi=\frac{\theta}{360\degree}\times\pi\times6^2 \\ Crossmultiply \\ 9\pi\times360=36\pi\times\theta \\ 3240\pi=36\pi\theta \\ Divide\text{ both sides by 36}\pi \\ \frac{3240\pi}{36\pi}=\frac{36\pi\theta}{36\pi} \\ 90\degree=\theta \\ \theta=90\degree \end{gathered}

To find the length of the arc, s, the formula is

\begin{gathered} s=\frac{\theta}{360\degree}\times2\pi r \\ Where \\ \theta=90\degree \\ r=6\text{ units} \end{gathered}

Substitute the variables into the formula to find the length of an arc, s above

\begin{gathered} s=\frac{\theta}{360}\times2\pi r \\ s=\frac{90\degree}{360\degree}\times2\times\pi\times6 \\ s=\frac{12\pi}{4}=3\pi\text{ units} \\ s=3\pi\text{ units} \end{gathered}

Hence, the length of the arc, s, is 3π units.
