Answer:

Roll 2 dice until you get a sum of 8 and record how many trials you made.

Explanation:

A binomial experiment consists in an experiment that is done "n" number of times, and there are only 2 possible outcomes, one of whic would be called successfull, and failure. In this case there are only two outcomes, either you get 8 when rolling the dice, or not, the successfull outcome will be when you get 8 from the sum of the dice, and the failure will be when you get anythin else. The outcomes of this experiments must be independient from one another, this means that for example, the successful result in one try, shouldn´t compromise the possibilities of having another succesfull outcome in the next try.

sattari [20]
The best thing that we process the verbal information is by the use of semantic encoding according to Craik and Tulving. Semantic Encoding is defined as the encoding and processing of sensory input that has a particular meaning or can be applied to a context. One of the good example of semantic encoding is you might remember a particular phone number based on a person's name or a particular food by its color.

borishaifa [10]

Part A

a)

Answer: (Why is this an observational study?)

The correct answer should be option A) This is an observational study because the researchers observe the behavior of the individuals in the study without trying to influence an explanatory variable of the study

Explanation:

It' s an observational study because researchers measured the characteristics of a selected frame of individuals by studying individuals in a sample without attempting to manipulate nor influencing over the variables studied.

Answer: (What type of study is this?)

The correct answer would be option C) It is a Case-control study.

Explanation:

Throughout the medical community, case control studies are often performed in order to compare individuals with some particular characteristic with individuals who do not have that characteristic. This is usually done to an homogeneous group in which individuals only differ in the characteristic in question but for the rest of characteristics they are random pretty much the similar.

b)

The correct answer would be option A) The response variable is the body mass index of the adolescents.

Explanation: A study is rehearsed upon the examinated variables.

c)

Answer:

The correct answer would be option B) Yes, for example, possible lurking variables might be eating habits and amount of exercise per week.

Explanation:

Depending on eating habits and exercise and how they combine with other factors like metabolism and how it could respond, there may be some variations.

d)

Answer:

The correct answer would be option A) It means that socioeconomic status is not an explanatory variable and that including this variable in the study does not change the result of the study.

Explanation:

Although there had been socioeconomic statuses introduced as variables throughout the study, the results stayed the same.

e)

Answer:

The correct answer would be option A) Yes, television in the bedroom causes obesity because the body mass index of the adolescents who had a TV in their bedroom was significantly higher than that of the adolescents who did not have a TV in their bedroom.

Explanation:

The facts followed up by the variables in the research came up with conclusive results of higher body mass index on adolescents who have a television in their bedroom.

I hope it helps!
