There are few cells in the body that do not undergo mitosis: most somatic cells divide regularly, some more than others. Take fo

r example the cells that line the digestive tract. These cells must be frequently replaced because they are constantly eroded by the movement of food through the tract. What mechanism(s) is/are in place to ensure that these cells are exact copies of the mother cell? A) DNA restriction point B) DNA template plus DNA damage checkpoints C) the template DNA provides for making copies D) G0, quiescence checks for damage

Answer:

B

Explanation:

A proper balance between cell quiescence and mitosis ensures the right tissue homeostasis. Due to regular erosion of cells in the gut lining they have to be replaced frequently. In this case there are more cell in mitosis phase than quiescent phase. To replace the cells will exact copies, the DNA in the parent cells acts as a template for the duplication of copies for the daughter cells. During duplication in mitosis, there are checkpoints that ensure the process is proceeding with precision as required to produce exact copies. In case there are errors, they are repaired before one step is proceeded by the other. In the case of irreparable damage, these cells undergo induced apoptosis.

Rna primers must be present on which strand during dna synthesis?
Tanya [424]

Answer:Both on the leading strand and on each okazaki fragments of the lagging strand.

Explanation:

A primer is a short single-stranded RNA nucleotide that initiate DNA synthesis at the replication fork. Because DNA polymerase can not initiate replication on it own short strand of RNA primer synthesized by an enzyme RNA primase is needed to initiate DNA polynucleotide synthesis.

RNA primer is present on both leading and lagging strand.

RNA primer of about 10 nucleotides long are present on the leading strand and on each okazaki fragments on the lagging strand to initiate replication. The RNA primer is removed and replaced by DNA nucleotides by DNA polymerase.

There are several reasons that contribute to the high level of biodiversity found in the wetlands. Firstly it provides numerous animals and insects to find their food and breed easily. Also this wetland helps the animals to camouflage against their enemies. The wetlands provide home for abundance of marine animals. It is actually a place that maintains a natural balance.<span />
