2.)Plug it into your calculator's Y= X^2 - 2X - 8 (if you have one)

3.)Press 2nd, Calc, 2

4.)Go to the X Intersect , it will say Left Bound at the bottom left corner

5.)Press the left arrow about 3 or 4 times, hit enter

6.) It will now say Right Bound in the same corner go back to the X intersect, now press the right arrow 3 or 4 times

Repeat steps 3 to 6 for the other X intersect.
