Randomly selecting someone who is over 45 years or over

Mathematics

I am Lyosha [343]3 years ago

"45 years or over" includes all of the age groups "45-64", "65-74", and "75 or over". These age groups are disjoint (no individual can belong to more than one group), so the probability of picking someone that's at least of 45 years of age is the sum of the probabilities that a person belongs to any one of these groups. That would be

24.8\%+9.6\%+6.6\%=41\%

A plane flew for 4 hours heading south and for 6 hours heading east. If the total distance traveled was 3,370 miles, and the pla
matrenka [14]
We know the total distance and individual times, so we can sum and equate total distance.

Let
E=speed heading east
E+45=speed heading south
then
4(E+45)+6E=3370 miles
Solve for E:
4E+180+6E=3370
10E=3370-180=3190 mph
E=319 mph.

f a(x) and b(x) are linear functions with one variable, which of the following expressions produces a quadratic function?
ArbitrLikvidat [17]
You don't show the details but you would have to multiply two linear equations to produce a quadratic equation. ex:

y2*y1=(ax+b)(cx+d)=acx^2+(ad+bc)x+bd

The lengths of the three sides of a triangle (not necessarily a right triangle) are 3.16 meters, 8.25 meters and 10.4 meters. wh
Dafna1 [17]
For non-right triangles you must use the "Law of Cosines" and then, the "Law of Sines" to solve this.

a= 8.25m
b= 10.4m
c= 3.16m
∠A= UNKNOWN
∠B= UNKNOWN
∠C=UNKNOWN

Law of Cosines:
c²= a²+b²-2abCos(C)
(3.16)²= (8.25)²+(10.4)²- 2(8.25)(10.4)(cos(C))
9.9856 = 68.0625 + (108.16) - (171.6)(cos(C)
9.9856 = 176.2225- 171.6 cos C
-166.2369= - (171.6(cosC))
cosC= 0.968746503
Take the inverse cosine of that to get the measure of angle C
∠C= 15.95813246°

Now Use law of sines to find ∠B:
\frac{10.4}{Sin(B)} = \frac{3.16}{sin(15.96)}
\frac{10.4}{Sin(B)} =12.73922
10.4 =12.73922115(sinB)
sinB= 0.816276439
(take the inverse sine to get the measure of ∠B)
∠B= 60.8040992°

Answer:
The angle measures approximately 60.80°.
