In Petty, Cacioppo, and Goldman's (1981) study, students were asked to read either eight weak arguments or eight strong argument

s in support of implementing a comprehensive exam at their university. Some students were told that the exam would be initiated the following year, and others were told it would be initiated in ten years, well after the students' graduation. Finally, the researchers varied the expertise of the source of the arguments - that is, participants were told the arguments were generated either by a local high school class or by a prestigious "Commission on Higher Education." The researchers measured students' attitudes toward the exam. What was the main result of this study?
When students believed the exam would be implemented in ten years, the expertise of the source influenced their attitudes, but the quality of the arguments did not.

The answer is: When students believed the exam would be implemented the following year, both the expertise of the source and the quality of the arguments equally influenced their attitudes.

This happen because the student's argument is extremely influenced by whether they could be involved in the comprehensive exam.

If the exam would be implemented in the following year, the students are very likely to face the exam themselves. This make them much more likely to have negative attitudes toward the idea.

If the exam would be implemented in the next 10 years, the students wouldn't have to face it. Therefore, their attitude would be less negative toward the comprehensive exam.

Montel, a White university student, is on academic probation for poor grades. Ever since he received notice of his probation, Mo
Zolol [24]

Answer:His increasing hostility can best be explained in terms of the SCAPEGOAT THEORY.

Explanation:

Scapegoat theory refers to how an individual tends to shift the blame of their own wrongdoings to others who haven't contributed anything towards those wrong doing. This is more likely to evoke prejudice against those who are falsely accused for the person's wrong doing. When a person can not explain their own mistakes the only way to escape blaming themselves is to find someone to put a blame on so that they may keep feeling good about themselves.

Montel blames the minority group and staff on campus for having received a notice of probation he can't think that it was his own fault maybe for not studying .

Which statement best represents Roger Sherman’s argument in favor of equal representation in the Senate?
Arisa [49]

Answer: Small states are easier to manage politically, while large states are more likely to be corrupt.

Explanation:

During the Constitutional Convention of 1787, large states claimed to deserve more of a voice due to their larger populations, so they demanded congressional representation to be based on population.

Smaller states, fearing being ignored if that happened, wanted equal representation.

Roger Sherman, based on the idea of small states being easier to be handle politically, and large states being more prone to corruption, proposed the Connecticut Compromise with Oliver Ellsworth, which granted equal representation in the Senate and representation by population in the House, in a bicameral system that provided a balance of power.
