Based on this map France was the first moderns day country to embrace Christianity among Britain, Russia and Poland. The Prince of France always mantained close relations with the Pope, and France was at one time considered the Church's eldest daughter. Religion has been at the forefront of France many conflicts, namely The Hundred Years Old War against Britain and Protestantism.
