The United States flourished at that time period. Thanks to the railroads, trade was improved and that increased the wealth and the quality of the economy of the country. The country also began to become more progressive with developed anti-slavery platforms that eventually led to the Civil War and abolition.

What were the major weaknesses of the articles of confederation

A few weaknesses from the articles of confederation were...

  1. Congress had no power to take/collect taxes
  2. There was no branch or system to make sure laws were being carried out
  3. Lots of debts were made that couldn't be paid
  4. Too many currencies were made and not just 1 currency for the country.

I only listed a <u>few</u> there are plenty more weaknesses.

It completely devastated the Confederacy. Many plantations, homes, and businesses were destroyed and/or burned down. Everything from supplies to food was raided. It also greatly depleted Southern morale.
