An isosceles triangle is a triangle with two equal sides. Since, one of the angles is 90 degrees. Then, the 2 remaining must equal 90 because the total of the triangle should be 180 degrees. So, I think 45 degrees is the only one we can use here because 45 + 45 = 90 degrees.

(2) Using the distance formula, d = √(x2 - x1)2 + (y2 - y1)2, what is the distance between point (-2, 2) and point (4, 4) rounde
monitta

Using the distance formula, d = \sqrt{(x_{2} - x_{1})^2 + (y_{2} - y_{1})^2  } \\, what is the distance between point (-2, 2) and point (4, 4) rounded to the nearest tenth?

Using the points given, plug them into the equation.

d = \sqrt{(x_{2} - x_{1})^2 + (y_{2} - y_{1})^2  } \\d = \sqrt{((4) - (-2))^2 + ((4) - (2)^2  } \\d=\sqrt{(4+2)^2 + (4-2)^2}\\d=\sqrt{(6)^2 + (2)^2}  \\d=\sqrt{36+4} \\d=\sqrt{40} \\

Plug this into a calculator and you get 6.32455532

Since you only need it up to the tenth (0.1), round up 6.32

<em>Five or more, let it soar. Four or less, let it rest.</em>

Since two is lower than four, we drop it.

Therefore, the distance between points (-2, 2) and (4, 4) is 6.3

Hope this helps ^w^

How is volume measured? i need a formula using cubes or unit cubes. PLEASE HELP!
gulaghasi [49]

Answer:

The volume of solids is measured in cubic measurements.

Step-by-step explanation:

Examples:

Volume of a cube:  V = a^3

Volume of a sphere: 4/3 x pi x r^3

Volume of a triangle: 1/2 x b x h x l

For instance, a sphere with the radius of 5 feet:

4/3 x pi x 5^3 = V

V = 523.6 cubic feet

nirvana33 [79]

Step-by-step explanation:

I think you mean triangle XYZ. and angle XYZ.

so, the angle at Y is 90°.

that makes XZ the Hypotenuse (baseline opposite of the 90° angle) of the right-angled triangle.

so, we can actually use Pythagoras (we don't need the area of the triangle to solve) :

13² = 12² + YZ²

169 = 144 + YZ²

25 = YZ²

YZ = 5 cm

just to check - the area of this triangle is (remember, it is a right-angled triangle, so XY and YZ serve also as baseline and height) :

area = 12 × 5 / 2 = 60/2 = 30 cm²

correct, it fits.
