To calculate the students who play in the band we have to calculate 30% of the total number of students

30%  = 30/100

400 * 30/100 = 120

120 students play in the band

To calculate the students who do sport we have to multiply 1/5 by the total number of students

400 * 1/5 = 80

Now we have to subtract from the total the amount that they do sports or play in the band

(400 - 80) - 120 = 200

This means that 200 students  are neither in the band nor on any sports team
