which new models did the ottomans adopt during the nineteenth century to adapt themselves to the western challenge?
Likurg_2 [28]

The Ottoman sultans’ fascination with European art, which had so strongly influenced the arts of the eighteenth century, played an equally important role in the nineteenth. Just as they attempted to solve the empire’s problems with the adoption of European systems of law, military, and even dress, so European-style art seemed the most appropriate form of expression for what the country perceived as its own modern and cosmopolitan culture.

Which statement best describes what happened if a German prince decided a state was Catholic in the late 1500s?1. The state had
son4ous [18]

2. The state tolerated Lutherans but not Calvinists.

Explanation:

  • This statement is followed by the decision of the Augsburg Peace Treaty.
  • The Peace of Augsburg is an agreement signed by Charles V and the forces of the Protestant Alliance on 25 September 1555 in the city of Augsburg.
  • That agreement ended the violence between Lutherans and Catholics in Germany.
  • The Peace of Augsburg was moderately successful in solving problems arising in the empire. Tolerance was increased and tension was freed from the empire. Many unresolved issues remain.
  • Calvinists were not protected by the agreement, so various Protestant groups lived in Lutheran areas and were in danger of being accused by the Lutheran regional ruler of heresy. Tolerance did not officially exist for the Calvinists until after the Peace of Westphalia in 1648.

How did the development of the slave trade in West Africa impact the African economy
emmasim [6.3K]

Answer:

The Atlantic slave trade had a negative impact on African societies and the long-term impoverishment of West Africa. For some it intensified effects already present among its rulers and kingdoms.

Explanation:

The use of African slave labour was not new. The Spanish and Portuguese had been using African slaves since the 16th century. However, the Atlantic slave trade of the 18th century was a new kind of slavery and was on a scale much greater than ever before.

The implications of the slave trade included:

Effects of the trade on African societies in West Africa

The slave sellers and European ‘factories’ on the West African coast

The development of slave-based states and economies

The destruction of societies

The development of foreign colonies

Leaders of African societies took roles in continuing the trade

agasfer [191]

Answer:

By The Italian peninsula was inhabited principally by several native tribes before the Greeks settled there and the Etruscans rose to prominence sometime after 800 B.C.E. The Greeks founded several city-states in the south of the peninsula and in Sicily, and the Etruscans rose to power on the western coast where they brought their culture to the Latin peoples settled in small villages along the Tiber River. Here, three centuries later, a prosperous urban center called Rome would emerge. Rome flourished under the Etruscans but the Latin population resented sovereign Etruscan rule and joined with other indigenous tribes in a rebellion.
