Lisa is choosing between two exercise routines. In Routine #1, she does only running, burning 8.5 calories per minute. In Routin

e #2, she burns 28 calories walking. She then runs at a rate that burns 2.9 calories per minute. For what amounts of time spent running will Routine #1 burn at least as many calories as Routine #2? Use t for the number of minutes spent running, and solve your inequaliy for t

Let, the number of minutes in running = t

Inequality would be: 8.5t ≥ 28 + 2.9t
Subtract 2.9t from both sides,

8.5t - 2.9t ≥ 28 + 2.9t - 2.9t
5.6t ≥ 28

Now, divide by 5.6
5.6t/5.6 ≥ 28/5.6
t ≥ 5

In short, Your Answer would be at-least 5 minutes

Hope this helps!

The amount of time it takes a bat to eat a frog was recorded for each bat in a random sample of 12 bats. The resulting sample me
spin [16.1K]

Answer: a. CI for the mean: 17.327 < μ < 26.473

b. CI for variance: 29.7532 ≤ \sigma^{2} ≤ 170.9093

Step-by-step explanation:

a. To construct a 95% confidence interval for the mean:

The given data are:

mean = 21.9

s = 7.7

n = 12

df = 12 - 1 = 11

1 - α = 0.05

\frac{\alpha}{2} = 0.025

t-score = t_{0.025,11} = 2.2001

Note: since the sample population is less than 30, it is used a t-score.

The formula for interval:

mean ± t.\frac{s}{\sqrt{n} }

Substituing values:

21.9 ± 2.200.\frac{7.7}{\sqrt{12} }

21.9 ± 4.573

The interval is: 17.327 < μ < 26.473

b. A 95% confidence interval for the variance:

The given values are:

s^{2} = 7.7^{2}

s^{2} = 59.29

α = 0.05

\frac{\alpha}{2} = 0.025

1-\frac{\alpha}{2} = 0.975

\chi^{2}_{0.025,11} = 21.92

\chi^{2}_{0.975,11} = 3.816

Note: To find the values for \chi^{2}_{\alpha/2,n-1} and \chi^{2}_{1-\alpha/2,n-1}, look for them at the chi-square table

The formula to calculate interval:

(\frac{(n-1).s^{2}}{\chi^{2}_{\alpha/2,n-1}} , \frac{(n-1)s^{2}}{\chi^{2}_{1-\alpha/2,n-1}})

are the lower and upper limits, respectively.

Substituing values:

(\frac{11.59.29}{21.92} , \frac{11.59.29}{3.816})

(29.7532, 170.9093)

The interval for variance is: 29.7532 ≤ \sigma^{2} ≤ 170.9093

Yesterday, Tammy went on a bike ride. Her average speed was 8 miles per hour. Today, she went on another ride, this time averagi
Stels [109]

Answer:

y=120-4x

Step-by-step explanation:

Here we are given the average speed for Day 1 and Day 2 and the time of ride . We asked to Find an expression to determine the total distance travelled in two days.

Day 1 :

Avg Speed = 8 mph

Let the time for travelling = x hrs

Hence Distace Travelled D1= Speed x Time

D1=8x

Day 2 :

Avg Speed = 12 mph

Total time of travelling for two days is given as 10 hours . Hence the time of travelling for day 2 is

= (10-x) hrs

Hence Distance travelled in Day 2 D2 = speed x time

D2 = 12(10-x)

D2=120-12x

Total Distance travelled = D1 + D2

= 8x+120-12x

=120-4x

If the total distance travelled is denoted by y

The expression will be

y=120-4x

Derick studied 13 1/2 hours this week for a spelling bee. Write the number of hours as a decimal.
serg [7]

Answer:

13.5

Step-by-step explanation:

When you convert fraction numbers to decimal numbers, remember they are written like this:

whole . parts

In 13 1/2, you have 13 wholes and 1/2 parts. The decimal number would look like 13 . parts

To find the decimal for 1/2, put into your calculator <u>1 ÷ 2</u>. The answer will be 0.5 Write "5" for parts. The decimal where 0.5 is will line up with the decimal in the decimal number.

13.5

Derek studied 13.5 hours for the spelling bee.
