Hazelwood v. Kuhlmeier case revolved around a school journalist who sued the school district since the school forced the journalist to stop covering certain type of stories that 'might ruin the school's reputation'

The student journalist argued to the court that the school has violated his first amendment right (the right to give free speech).

At first, the court actually sided with the school. This make some schools start to heavily censored students' newspaper, yearbooks, and web pages.
