Explanation: This is because even though they look similar,
Actinic keratosis starts with formation of rough, unclear spots that are less than a square inch in area. which develop into reddish scaly plaques which are also flat or slightly raised. Seborrheic keratosis on the other hand is significantly different because it involves blockage of pores which only prevents hair growth in the affected skin which Actinic keratosis does not.
Also Actinic keratosis has tendency to be cancerous on a long run therefore requires treatment in the early stages but Seborrheic keratosis is harmless and can be treated by some cosmetic applications.
