Despite our constitution says the President to be the head of the country the real power lies with the Prime minister as he is the one who has the the most powerful committee the council of ministers under him . Also he is the one who holds the power of majority in the most powerful house of the parliament the Lok Sabha . He takes a vital role in decision making and hence controls the fate of the country.

Hence prime minister holds the real power.

I would say that you would spend less but don't go to crazy. Spending less would help save a bit more money if you possibly lost the job.
