The nurse would be encouraged as usual to provide emotional support for the patient. This would mean mostly letting the patient know that you are there for them, and will listen. Instead of saying “it will be fine it will grow back!” or “you will be okay, don’t be irrational!”, the nurse would be more correct to say something along the lines of, “ I am here for you, if you need anything I can help.” Along with encouraging the patient to look at it in the best way possible.
