Answer:X= 1.84. Y= 3.08

Step-by-step explanation:

-9x+8y =8 ............i

-8x+10y= -16........ii

Multiply equation I by 8

Multiply equation ii by 9

-72x+64y = 64 ..... iii

-72x+90y = 144 ..... iv

Subtract iv from iii

-26y = -80

y= 80/26

y= 3.08

Put the value of y in equation i

-9x+8y =8

-9x+8(3.08) = 8

-9x+24.64 = 8

-9x = 8-24.64

-9x=-16.64

Divide both side by 9

-9x/-9 = -16.64/-9

X= 1.84

Line g is shown on the graph.

The linear equation that defines the line G can be written as:

y = -(1/3)*x + 5

How to get the equation of the line G?

A general linear equation written in the slope-intercept form is:

y = a*x + b

Where a and b are real numbers, a is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

If we know that the line passes through two points (x₁, y₁) and (x₂, y₂), then the slope is:

a = (y₂ - y₁)/(x₂ - x₁)

In this case we know that the line passes through (-3, 6) and (0, 5), then the slope is:

a = (5 - 6)/(0 - (-3)) = -1/3

The linear equation is something like:

y = (-1/3)*x + b

We know that it passes through (0, 5), then:

5 = (-1/3)*0 + b

5 = b

We conclude that the linear equation can be written as:

y = -(1/3)*x + 5
