During pulmonary edema, the interstitial space increases resulting to a smaller diffusion. The increased interstitial space makes oxygen not to have enough time to reach the red blood cell resulting to partially oxygenated blood. Using the Fick equation there will be an increase in the level of oxygen coming from the lungs.

Give an explanation for why many people and even scientists accepted the idea?
Elina [12.6K]

Answer:

Many people and even scientist believed in spontaneous generation because it explained such occurrences as the appearance of maggots on decaying meat. By the 18th century it had become obvious that higher organisms could not be produced by nonliving material.

Indigestible carbohydrates often are classified as fiber. the human digestive tract lacks the enzymes to hydrolyze the _________
andrew11 [14]

Answer

Unable to hydrolyze Beta 1-4 linkages

Explanation

Cellulose is present in the plant structure. It is insoluble in water and aqueous solution. Humans do not have the necessary bacteria in their intestines that produces the enzyme cellulase required to break down the beta 1,4 linkage of cellulases. So we cannot break down the bond and are unable to digest these polysaccharides.
