Calculate the ratio of the drag force on a jet flying at 950 km/h at an altitude of 10 km to the drag force on a prop-driven tra

nsport flying at two-fifths the speed and half the altitude of the jet. The density of air is 0.38 kg/m3 at 10 km and 0.67 kg/m3 at 5.0 km. Assume that the airplanes have the same effective cross-sectional area and drag coefficient C.

Answer:

\frac{F_1}{F_2}=3.55

Explanation:

F = Force

C = Drag coefficient equal for both aircrafts

ρ = Density of air

A = Surface area equal for both aircrafts

v = Velocity

v_2=\frac{2}{5}v_1

F_1=\frac{1}{2}\rho_1 CAv_1^2

F_2=\frac{1}{2}\rho_2 CAv_2^2\\\Rightarrow F_2=\frac{1}{2}\rho_2 CA\left(\frac{2}{5}v_1\right)^2

Dividing the above two equations we get

\frac{F_1}{F_2}=\frac{\frac{1}{2}\rho_1 CAv_1^2}{\frac{1}{2}\rho_2 CA\left(\frac{2}{5}v_1\right)^2}\\\Rightarrow \frac{F_1}{F_2}=\frac{\rho_1}{\rho_2\frac{4}{25}}\\\Rightarrow \frac{F_1}{F_2}=\frac{0.38}{0.67\frac{4}{25}}\\\Rightarrow \frac{F_1}{F_2}=3.55

The ratio of the drag forces is \mathbf{\frac{F_1}{F_2}}=\mathbf{3.55}

To provide some perspective on the dimensions of atomic defects, consider a metal specimen that has a dislocation density of 105
-Dominant- [34]

Explanation:

LD₁ = 10⁵ mm⁻²

LD₂ = 10⁴mm⁻²

V = 1000 mm³

Distance = (LD)(V)

Distance₁ = (10⁵mm⁻²)(1000mm³) = 10×10⁷mm = 10×10⁴m

Distance₂ = (10⁹mm⁻²)(1000mm³) = 1×10¹² mm = 1×10⁹ m

Conversion to miles:

Distance₁ = 10×10⁴ m / 1609m = 62 miles

Distance₂ = 10×10⁹m / 1609 m = 621,504 miles.

1A, 3B, and 7A are examples of<br> __________<br> on the periodic table.
nalin [4]

Answer:

1 A, 3 B, and 7 A are examples of  <em>group number</em> on the periodic table.

Explanation:

The table that consists of elements arranged systematically on the basis of atomic numbers is called periodic table. Groups and periods are two important part of a periodic table. A periodic table contains seven horizontal rows, called as periods and 18 vertical columns, called group.

The groups name is given in the form of number and alphabets. It represents the columns present in the  periodic table.

Hence, 1 A, 3 B, and 7 A are examples of  <u><em>group number</em></u> on the periodic table.
