The rear window in a car is approximately a rectangle, 1.5 m wide and 0.70 m high. The inside rearview mirror is 0.60 m from the

driver's eyes, and 2.00 m from the rear window.What is the minimum length for the rearview mirror if the driver is to be able to see the entire width and height of the rear window in the mirror without moving her head?

Answer:

Length of rear-view mirror = 0.3462 m

Step-by-step explanation:

  • As per the attachment first thing we need to calculate is the angle of incidence of light "α" reflected from the rear view mirror to the eyes of the driver.
  • As per the diagram the following calculations are:
  • α = arctan(half length L of the rear view window / distance between the focus point and the centre of the rear view window).
  • half length L of the rear view window = 1.5/2 = 0.75 m
  • Distance between the focus point and the center of the rear view window = 0.6+2.0 = 2.6 m

hence,

  • α = arctan(0.75/2.6)
  • α = 16.091 degrees

Now the we will use α to calculate length of the rear view mirror.

length of the rear view mirror = 2 x 0.6 x tan(α)

length of the rear view mirror = 2 x 0.6 x tan(16.091)

length of the rear view mirror = 0.3462 m

Prove that a line parallel to one side of a triangle divides the other two sides proportionally. Be sure to create and name the
ryzh [129]

Answer:

in steps

Step-by-step explanation:

DE // BC

m∠ADE = m∠ABC   and m∠AED = m∠ACB

∴ ΔADE similar to ΔABC

AB/AD = AC/AE

(AD + DB) / AD = (AE + EC) / AE

AD/AD + DB/AD = AE/AE + EC/AE

1 + DB/AD = 1 + EC/AE

DB/AD = EC/AE    (AD/DB = AE/EC)

Classify the following sequence as arithmetic, geometric, neither or both: 2, 6, 18, ...
yan [13]

Answer:

Geometric

Step-by-step explanation:

Does multiplying the same number with each term give the next term?

If so, then it is Geometric Sequence.

Does adding the same number with each term give the next term?

If so, then it is Arithmetic Sequence.

We see that multiplying by 3 gives us each successive term. 2 times 3 is 6 and 6 times 3 is 18. So it is geometric sequence.

It is NOT arithmetic sequence since we add 4 to 2 to get next number 6, but we have 12 to get next number, which is 18. So not an arithmetic sequence.

Answer is "Geometric"

Solve the equation 24+0.44x=19+1.69x
vichka [17]

Answer: X= 4

Step-by-step explanation:

24+0.44x=19+1.69x exp equation like:

24+44x/100=19+169x/100

Multiply left and right side of equation with 100

2400+44x=1900+169x

2400-1900=169x-44x

500=125x

x=500/125

x=4
