Computers have impacted the whole world, not just the American society. Think of how they changed everyday lives. They are used for work, for relaxation, for fun etc. For example, now you don't need a TV, you can stream everything on your PC, or if you don't like watching TV, you can unwind after a long day by playing video games.
You also make power point presentations on them, both for work or school. You can store millions of documents on them, and it has many more functions (it can be a calculator, a typing machine etc.). Hope this helps.
