Answer:

3) to avoid dealing with difficult emotions

Explanation:

There is a concept called "emotional hunger," which refers to situations where a person compulsively eats to deal with stressful situations.

The term "emotional hunger" refers to when we use food to feel better, to eat to satisfy emotional needs rather than to nourish our bodies physiologically. It could be for example to take a jar of ice cream when you are depressed, order a pizza if you are bored, alone or pass and a drive-through after a stressful day at work.

From time to time using food as a welcome, a reward or to celebrate is not necessarily wrong. But when this becomes a habit as the main mechanism of emotional control and your first impulse is to open the refrigerator each time you feel stressed, bothered, nervous, lonely, tired or bored, a destructive cycle begins where we don't solve the root of the problem. .

Emotional hunger is not quenched with food. You may feel good right now, but the feelings that drove you to eat will still be there, inside you. And on top of that you can feel worse for eating something that really doesn't do you any good by generating a sense of guilt and helplessness.
