Answer:

y = -(8/5)x + 3

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1:  Rewrite the given equation into slope-intercept form by solving for y

8y−16=5x

   8y = 5x + 16

      y = (5/8)x + 2

Perpendicular lines have slopes that are opposite reciprocals of each other.  That means you take the slope, flip the fraction, and change the sign.

Here our given line is y = (5/8)x + 2 so the slope 5/8

The opposite reciprocal of 5/8 is -8/5

We set up the equation

y = -(8/5)x + b

  we are given a point (x, y) of (5, -5), so plug that in and solve for b

-5 = -(8/5)(5) + b

    -5 = -8 + b

     3 = b

So our equations is  y = -(8/5)x + 3

What is the radical form of each of the given expressions?
earnstyle [38]

Answer:

6^{\frac{1}{5} }=\sqrt[5]{6}

6^{\frac{7}{5} }=\sqrt[5]{6^7}

6^{\frac{1}{6} }=\sqrt[6]{6}

7^{\frac{1}{2} }=\sqrt[2]{7}

7^{\frac{5}{2} }=\sqrt[2]{7^5}

6^{\frac{9}{2} }=\sqrt[2]{6^9}

Step-by-step explanation:

A radical is the root operation for n roots such as square root or cuberoot in the form \sqrt[n]{x}. A fraction exponent x^{m/n} can be converted to the radical form.

6^{\frac{1}{5} }=\sqrt[5]{6}

6^{\frac{7}{5} }=\sqrt[5]{6^7}

6^{\frac{1}{6} }=\sqrt[6]{6}

7^{\frac{1}{2} }=\sqrt[2]{7}

7^{\frac{5}{2} }=\sqrt[2]{7^5}

6^{\frac{9}{2} }=\sqrt[2]{6^9}

Answer:

C. (1, –2); minimum

Step-by-step explanation:

Answer:

D

Step-by-step explanation:

The vertex is the turning point of the graph.

This is at (- 1, - 2)

The graph changes from decreasing to increasing at (- 1, - 2)

Hence is a minimum at (- 1, - 2)
